Scarlett’s Midnight Prayer

The velvet night presses, a secret it keeps,
Two souls on the edge where the shadow world sleeps.
Your eyes meet with mine, yet the silence won’t break,
A kiss hovers near, but we both are afraid to take.

Your arms fold around me—what truth do they hide?
A comfort, a promise, or tide yet denied?
I ache for the answer, but fear binds me still,
While your nearness awakens a dangerous thrill.

We whisper like sinners, like saints out of time,
Unveiling the corners the daylight won’t find.
Your breath warms my skin, though your words leave me torn,
Between longing for dawn and the night I’ve adorned.

If only your heart spoke as freely as eyes,
Would it dare claim my soul? Would it sever disguise?
I tremble with hunger, yet mercy I wear,
So I fold it in silence—my midnight prayer.
